Google rolled out it’s latest android update Android 7.0 Nougat and was officially launched on 22nd August 2016 and let me tell you it’s just awesome. Many improvements have been made from the previous update Android Marshmallow which was the sixth version as well as many new features have been added to enhance user experience.
SPLIT – SCREEN MODE / MULTI WINDOW SUPPORT
Split Screen Mode or Multi Window Support means two apps can be snapped to occupy halves of the screen of your Nexus phone or Tablet and you can work simultaneously in real time on both. So, you won’t be having any difficulty in watching videos on YouTube along with composing e-mails.
Back to point, It works in both portrait and landscape view, but it is only resizable in portrait view by app developers. This feature is quite old as Samsung and LG phones have been using this from a long time.
QUICK SWITCH BETWEEN APPS
This is another and interesting feature.
Basically “quick switch apps” means rearranging two or more applications which have been visited recently. For example: While watching an online movie in your Smartphone, on the other half you can easily book flight tickets.
If done so, you can quick switch to messaging apps without interruption or edit your contacts list or any app visited recently. You can easily quick switch between recent apps just by tapping the app overview button.
BUNDLED NOTIFICATIONS AND DIRECT REPLY
Bundled notifications clearly means group of notifications are displayed from a specific application and you will be immediately getting an overview of something new and latest. If you are more likely to respond to that notification, you can do it so without opening the app.
You just need to tap all new expand button or use two finger gestures to expand and view information. You can silence future alerts from an app in the notification itself.
Quick/direct reply is the ability to reply to a notification without opening it. It saves a lot time and endless app switching as well. With Android 7.0 Nougat this feature goes beyond not only reply but also you can share, delete as well as archive the notification.
CUSTOMIZATION QUICK SETTING
If you have using any other Android phones, then you would be familiar with the notifications shade that you use to pull down from the top but this time Quick setting has also been updated, Android 7.0 Nougat has introduced a list of five toggles that are always present at the top of your notification shade and the quick setting switches can be sorted according to your choices and preferences.
In full quick setting you can drag the tiles and arrange in order or replace them with others. Developers can create custom quick setting tiles for the apps making it look more interesting and useful.
The main motive of Doze mode is to improve and extend our Android Phone’s battery life. If a user leaves a device unplugged and stationary for a period of time with screen off, the device enters Doze mode.
Phone will shut down the network access and only be syncing data and running task periodically. If left untouched for a longer period of time, it would go into deep hibernation.
Doze mode was introduced with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Significant changes have been made from the previous version as Doze mode now not only works when the device is stationary but also when it is in motions.
ANDROID FOR WORK

NUMBER BLOCKING AND CALL SCREENING
This version gives you a complete control over unwanted calls. Number blocking can also block text allowing a wide range of blocking support.
Android 7.0 Nougat is introducing the concept of Seamless Updates which means all latest android updates will be downloaded in background and will get stored on portion of a system. Once the updates are downloaded, you just have to restart your phone and new updates will be implemented automatically.
This means no more worries for manual updates and installations
FILE BASED ENCRYPTION
File Based Encryption is supported by Android 7.0 Nougat and above. Different files can be encrypted with different keys and can be unlocked independently which means a much powerful encryption.
New Nexus devices will support F.B.E and Direct boot automatically but if you are having another android phone than it won’t be automatic. You would need to enable it by Developer Options > Convert to file encryption and this process would wipe your data.
VULKAN API SUPPORT
Vulkan targets high performance real-time 3D graphics application such as video games. Android Nougat introduces API support which will improve the quality of gaming and other graphically intensive app.
This feature mainly aims to provide a quality experience for game enthusiasts.

WHAT IS ANDROID ?
Android is an open source operating system which is used in mobile phones and it also comprises middle ware and key applications.
In case you are not familiar with the term open source, then let me make it clear to you. Open source points to software’s / programs in which the source code (A form of program when a programmer writes a code/program in particular programming language) is available for the general public to use or make changes to it or modify it as per usages.
Android Inc was founded in Palo Alto in California, U.S in October 2003 by Rich Miner, Chris White, Andy Rubin, and Nick Sears. Later on in July 2005, Android was acquired by the search giant none other than Google for $50 million
If we talk about Google, then it rolled out its first and second update – version 1.0 and 1.1 in September 2008 and February 2009 but they were not released under specific code names but later on in April 2009, version 1.5 was released under code name – Cupcake and since then it’s upgrading in the alphabetical order.
WHICH PHONES WILL FIRST RECEIVE ANDROID 7.0 NOUGAT ?
